I once heard this on a motion device:
"Moral Fiber. So what is Moral Fiber? It's funny, i used to think it was always telling the truth, doing good deeds, basically being a f****** boy scout. But lately i've been seeing it differently.
Now i think Moral Fiber's about finding that one thing you really care about. That one special thing that means more to you than anything else in the world and when you find her, you fight for her, you risk it all, you put her in front of everything. Your life, all of it and maybe the stuff you do to help her isn't clean. You know what? It doesn't matter because in your heart you know that the juice is worth the squeeze. That's what Moral Fiber's all about." - Movie, The Girl Next Door
"Harry proves himself virtuous by putting the welfare of others ahead of his own glory and safety. Despite the psychological fog induced by the maze, Harry is clear-headed enough to rescue a fallen competitor rather than let him perish. He then insists they share the prize. His underwater heroics save a girl’s life at personal expense, and the tournament committee sees fit to honor his selflessness with a reward for “outstanding moral fiber.” - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Do you have sufficient Moral Fiber, or maybe just a shred of it?
Fibers are of great importance in plants, animals and humans, although humans carry a diverse functionality, it however is equally fundamental. Also, not forgetting the fact that the majority of us goes through Moral Education back in school, comes the birth of moral fiber.
I’d define moral fiber as having the might not to compromise in ones belief when things get thorny.
Worst case scenario:
“You are on a run, and you know as long as you head straight and not turn back, you’ll be safe. On the other hand, your friend is under hostage and will be murdered if no one saves him/her. You have a 50 50 probability of surviving after turning back to save him/her, where she gets the slightest hope of being saved by you. Your beliefs pretty much are to get out of the situation hassle-free possible, which you currently are making your way through. What would you do?”
Moral Fiber here speaks, turn back and save your friend, unconditionally, genuinely with no motive what so ever. (Moral Fiber takes no effort no second thoughts, it's just BAP and go)
Comparing the movies, The Girl Next Door, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire together with my example of worst case scenario, you can all burp out a similarity which is to risk it all. In a way, different cultures, different behaviors generally cuts down to if moral fiber means risking it all for that one thing, one person or for anything in dire circumstances.
